My Story
Hi, I’m Jimmy!
My parents came to the U.S. as immigrants with no money and no clue how to invest. My mom was the first in our family to try – she didn’t have a fancy degree, but she taught herself and inspired me to do the same.
At first, I made a lot of mistakes. I lost money, got frustrated, and almost gave up. Then I realized there’s a system to this – a strategy to grow wealth without gambling or guessing.
I worked as an engineer and picked up side jobs along the way. Over time, I built my own portfolio from the ground up, and that portfolio is now worth several million dollars. After reaching financial freedom, I transitioned my full-time career into a Financial Coach at a non-profit – helping others learn how to invest while continuing to study the market every single day.
I did this all while starting small and learning as I went.
Today, I spend hours every week tracking the market, researching companies, and analyzing individual stocks.

However, it is my belief that not investing at all is the riskiest thing to do since your money will lose value to inflation if it’s just sitting in a savings account. The historical average rate of inflation is 3% per year. The historical average return of the SP500 is about 10% per year. Investing is one of the best ways to grow your wealth.

My Story...
I started investing in my senior year of college but I really had no idea what I was doing. I was young, stupid, and stubborn and thought I knew everything. I also had the wrong mindset – I had a short-term trading mentality and was trying to make quick money. I made all sorts of beginner mistakes. My impatience and stupidity cost me money the first few years of my investing career. I deserved it but I also learned from it.
A Shift in Mindset
Eventually, I heard about a book called “The Intelligent Investor” by Benjamin Graham. The book taught me about having a long-term mindset, investing in great companies, and finding undervalued stocks. After I completely changed the way I invested, my portfolio started to grow… slowly but surely. I invested in ETFs in addition to great companies and held them for the long-term. I worked my normal engineering day job but also waitered and DJ’d all day on Saturdays to make extra money to invest.
Achieving Financial Freedom
I was able to reach financial freedom in my late 30s giving me the choice to choose what I wanted to do for work. So I left the engineering world and became a Financial Coach at a nonprofit. At the nonprofit, I have the opportunity to do what I love and share my knowledge with beginners on why it’s important to invest and how to start by keeping things as simple as possible.
